Participants will respond to a series of writing prompts to explore the world of mythmaking. Then, in response to their myths, they will be prompted to sculpt clay forms as they reflect on their own narratives. Designed to spark imagination, this workshop emphasizes process over product and encourages playful experimentation throughout.

Join us for a series of workshops led by artist Tarek Elkassouf that will explore the leporello, an accordion-style artist book offering a unique canvas for storytelling and self-exploration. Guided by writing exercises, layering text, and creating visual connections, participants will discover how a multilayered story can flow naturally across pages.
Participants will incorporate 21k gold hues into their leporellos, carefully applying them to selected words, images, or folds. This touch will add a sense of value and visual contrast, drawing attention to meaningful moments in their narratives.

This hands-on, two-day workshop with artist Sarah Ahmed builds on the fundamentals of publishing. Over the course of the workshop, participants will be guided to create their own unique art journal.
Day 1: By experimenting with a variety of unconventional materials, such as washi tape, glitter, found objects, and stickers, participants will design covers, spreads, and other elements of their journal. Participants will also explore techniques for developing their own creative prompts, using personal memories and sensory experiences to inspire expressive journaling.
Day 2: Participants will compile the material from the previous session and learn the saddle stitch binding method to assemble their journal. By the end of the workshop, they will have their personalized alternative art journal ready to be filled with their thoughts, ideas, and experiments.
All materials will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring any favorite supplies of their own.
